Our deepest condolences go to the family, friends, teammates, and loved ones of Old Boy Star Sami following his untimely passing. Our thoughts are especially with his father, Daniel, a fellow Old Boy, and their entire aiga as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Star was remembered as an exceptional young man whose talent, character, and passion for sport made a lasting impression on those around him. During his time at KBHS, he represented the school in Senior Touch and was a valued member of the 2021 and 2022 Auckland-winning 1st XV teams.
One of the defining moments of Star’s rugby journey came during the final at Eden Park. His outstanding performance on that stage helped secure his selection for the 2022 New Zealand Secondary Schools team, a remarkable achievement that reflected his dedication, ability, and commitment to the game. Following his school years, Star continued his rugby career at senior level, playing for both Ponsonby and Massey. Through his sporting achievements and the relationships he built along the way, he touched the lives of many people.
The profound grief being shared by his brothers, classmates from the Class of 2022, teammates, friends, and wider community is a testament to the impact Star had on those who knew him. Messages and photographs shared across social media reflect the memories and affection people hold for him. Today, we honour Star Sami for the life he lived, the achievements he accomplished, and the many people he inspired. His passing has left an immense void, but his legacy will continue through the memories cherished by his family, friends, teammates, and school community. Rest peacefully, Star. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
