Four young men lost their lives in a tragic vehicle crash near the I-77/I-64 interchange in Charleston, West Virginia, on August 21, 2026.
The victims have been identified as James McDaniel, 20, of Raleigh County, West Virginia; Colten Garcia, 20, of Raleigh County; Kaden Ashby, 21, of Raleigh County; and Kaiden Radford, 21, of Raleigh County.
According to the Charleston Police Department, emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 10:25 p.m. after a report of a serious accident involving a single vehicle traveling on I-77 South. Investigators stated that the vehicle struck a concrete barrier before leaving the elevated roadway and coming to rest in a lower area near the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Authorities confirmed that all four occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Charleston Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit continues to review the circumstances surrounding the incident, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
